The Whole Story in One Place

On January 9, 2014 we brought a beautiful baby boy into our family through domestic adoption. For the sake of having it all in one place, here are the posts that tell the story of his homecoming. These were written in real time and posted after he came home with us.

Introduction - Telling the Story
Installment One - The Call
Two - On The Day We Met
Three -  Praying for Her
Four - Missing the Milestones, But...
Five - Two Days
Six - Deep Breaths
Seven - Final Preparations
Eight - Today is the Day
Nine - That Unforgettable Moment

Thanks for all the celebrating and encouragement along the way. We are so grateful for this story and what it has taught us about God, ourselves and what family really is.

The Wait Continues

We had a flurry of activity when we first joined the waiting list here in Wisconsin. There were lots of opportunities for our book to be seen and some situations that became almost possible -to much delight and excitement. Alas, though, we are back to just waiting and would love to know that our profile is still circulating out there as we continue this long road to meeting our next child.

Some of you have wondered exactly what type of adoption we are pursuing. Well, we are doing domestic adoption, which means that we are adopting a child who needs a home in the United States. He or she can be from any state, not just where we live. We are open to any gender, multiples(twins, triplets) and any race. We have technically been waiting for an infant (0-12 months) but are open to situations involving children who are younger than 5 as well as sibling groups. We are also looking for a semi-open  or open adoption, which means we are open to the birth parents being in some kind of relationship with the child. There is a huge spectrum of what that can look like (sending pictures or letters or even meeting up a few times a year) and we look forward to working that out specifically with the birth parents. We would also consider a closed adoption if that is the preference of a birth parent.

If you or anyone you know would like to know more about us as a family and what it would look like to pursue adoption, please check out our profile. Send us an email at carolynandreedadoption@hotmail.com . Comment on this post and let us know how we can be in touch with you! We would love to talk to you about our family and how much we have prayed and prepared for another child to join us!

As always, please take a moment and post the link to this blog. You never know who might be looking for an adoptive family!

Thanks, Carolyn and Reed

We are pleased to announce that after less than 2 months since we moved here, we are back on the waiting list with our agency in Wisconsin! We have been blown away by the hard work and initiative of our case worker here who has made this process truly as easy and quick as it could have been.

You can see our new profile here: Reed and Carolyn's Adoption Profile

As usual, please feel free to share our blog or specific link to the profile and get the word out. We are still excited and hopeful that our family will grow in 2013!

Getting Updated in Wisconsin

We just made the move to Wisconsin, which means that for about a month more our online profile will not be available through Bethany. We are in the process of complying with Wisconsin laws to update our home study and get back online!

If you are interested in knowing more about our family or our availability as adoptive parents, please do not hesitate to contact us.

You can reach us at carolynandreedadoption@hotmail.com right now.

Feel free to look around this site to learn more about us- just because we are not online at the moment does not mean we are unavailable to start any conversations!
